From Kampong Bugis, Rochor to Golden Mile; from the old Sungei Road to the new Sultan Gate! Come, join us on this unique Food & Heritage walk where you’ll be amazed by the beautiful art, unique architecture, splash of colors, street murals, creative sculptures and eclectic designs on display that you never knew existed right here in our little ‘Red Dot’!

This picturesque walk (specially tailored for you) takes you on a special heritage trail through time to explore and uncover the beauty and significance of these forgotten places that has shaped Singapore’s present and modern state.

From colorful temples to a majestic church; take a walk down memory lane at Sungei Road (then and now) and be spooked too as we show you a place where body parts of a murder were found. Indeed there’s so much interesting and significant events that took place in these old ‘kampongs’ from the 1800s till now. For example – did you know that there was a former Istana located here? Where is it now? Who were its occupants? And did you know that the narrowest street in Singapore is located here?

To share a little history about these ‘kampongs’. In 1822 the Raffles Town Plan (named after Sir Stamford Raffles) allocated designated areas to the various racial groups such as the Chinese and the Indians.

The area around Kampong Glam however was allocated to the Malays, as well as the Muslim immigrants and traders from the Malay Peninsula, Java, Sumatra, Celebes Islands, Riau, India and Southern Arabia based on their prominence, social and economic status. But it was the successful and influential Arab traders who left their indelible mark here in these areas where streets were named after names of Arabian cities such as Arab Street, Bussorah Street, Muscat Street and Baghdad Street in the early 1910s.

On Arab Street today, you’ll still find Muslim traders working side by side with Chinese and Indian traders. However, despite the influx of modern businesses by other ethnic groups, Kampong Glam is still very much a centre for Muslim activities.

This is a photography cum heritage walk best suited for those who love colors, street-art murals, architecture, sculptures, paintings, instagram photos, the history of Singapore and of course … food!

So if you’re ready to see the unusual part of Singapore you never knew, join us for this rich colorful heritage stroll down memory lane. Well … chances are it may just bring you some pleasant memories of those beautiful good old days!
